Bette Davis on Letterman, 1989

Source: www.celebritysmackblog.com

Bette Davis was Hollywood royalty.

I found this great old clip of her on the David Letterman Show from 1989. She would die later that year. She was a brilliant little thing, barely standing over 5′ tall, with a wonderful sense of humor.

Davis was nominated for ten Academy Awards throughout her career. A record back in 1962. Since then, only 4 other people have broken her record. Meryl Streep (with fifteen nominations and two wins), Katharine Hepburn (twelve nominations and four wins), Jack Nicholson (twelve nominations and three wins) and Laurence Olivier (ten nominations and one win).

Patrick Swayze: “The Time of My Life” Memoir Book

Patrick Swayze penned a memoir, ‘The Time of My Life’ before his death and although it won’t hit shelves until September, 29th, we have a sneak peek for you.

The book, co-written by wife of 32-years Lisa Niemi, was written after Swayze’s February 2008 diagnosis of advanced pancreatic cancer.

patrick-swayze-time-of-my-lifeFrom Amazon:

In a career spanning more than thirty years, Patrick Swayze has made a name for himself on the stage, the screen, and television. Known for his versatility, passion and fearlessness, he’s become one of our most beloved actors.

But in February 2008, Patrick announced he had been diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. Always a fighter, he refused to let the disease bring him to his knees, and his bravery has inspired both his legion of fans and cancer patients everywhere. Yet this memoir, written with wisdom and heart, recounts much more than his bout with cancer. In vivid detail, Patrick describes his Texas upbringing, his personal struggles, his rise to fame with North and South, his commercial breakthroughs in Dirty Dancing and Ghost, and the soul mate who’s stood by his side through it all: his wife, writer and director Lisa Niemi.

A behind-the-scenes look at a Hollywood life and a remarkable love, this memoir is both entertainment and inspiration. Patrick and Lisa’s marriage is a journey of two lives intertwined and lived as one–throughout their years in Hollywood and at home on their working ranch outside Los Angeles, and culminating in the hope and wisdom they’ve imparted to all who know them. This book will open the door for families, individuals, and husbands and wives to grow, bond and discover entirely new levels of love and sharing, proving that life shouldn’t be lived as a series of endings, but rather as the beginning of greater strength and love.

Quotes from the book

On realizing he had limited time to live: “I began thinking to myself, I’ve had more lifetimes than any 10 people put together. And it’s been an amazing ride. So this is ok.”

On working on The Beast while receiving treatment: “I continued with therapy all the way through the shoot, but I never took any painkillers since they dull not only your pain but your senses.”

His pledge to wife Lisa, as the couple renewed wedding vows: “Together we’ve created journeys that were beyond anything we could imagine, yet you still take my breath away. I’m still not complete until I look into your eyes.”

What a love story. This couple really had something special. And how rare is it for a Hollywood leading man to actually be SO in love with his wife? What a great thing is that?

Patrick had it all, alright. And I think he summed it up best in the line above about having lived 10 lifetimes during his time on earth. He is so inspirational to those facing a similar situation. His wife is surely proud of him.

DJ AM: Was it Suicide?

Source: www.celebritysmackblog.com

dj-am-suicide

Did DJ AM commit suicide?

It is looking more and more like DJ AM, a.k.a. Adam Goldstein, committed suicide.

According to new reports, the famous DJ took NINE oxycontin pills after a crack cocaine binge. Eight undigested pills were found in his stomach, and one pill was found in his mouth.

Evidence suggests that Adam barricaded himself in his apartment by propping mirrors up against the doors. Those mirrors were shattered when police arrived on the scene.

This is truly such a sad case. Adam has the world at his fingertips. He was one of the most famous DJ’s in the world, he had seemingly conquered his drug demons and was a roll model for those trying to kick.

Was it the recent breakup with girlfriend Hayley Wood that put him over the edge? Was it the plane crashed that he somehow miraculously survived? The medications prescribed thereafter? Why on earth would such a talented young man take his own life?

Sadly, we will never know exactly. Suicide is such a terrible thing. It is so final and those left behind wonder “why” for the rest of their lives. Not to mention the guilt that is carried with them.

Hopefully Adam’s friends, family and Hayley will be able to recover from this tragedy. Sadly it will most likely take a lot of years and a lot of therapy..

If you or someone you know is considering suicide, please call the National Suicide Hotline: 1-800-Suicide.

DJ AM Talks About His Crack Addiction

Source: www.celebritysmackblog.com

DJ AM admitted in an MTV interview that month that crack cocaine was his drug of choice.

He claimed to have had 11 years sober in the July 29, 2009 video.

Police have since stated that a baggie of crack was found next to his body. It is believed that a recent breakup caused him to start using again.

Michael Jackson ALIVE! VIDEO

Source: www.celebritysmackblog.com

Is Michael Jackson really alive?

Conspiracy theorists: Michael Jackson is ALIVE!

Well, according to whomever posted this video online anyways. Honestly, I found this video to be more comical than anything.

It’s a clip of a Coroner’s van pulling into what I assume is the parking garage of a Medical Examiner’s office. The van pulls up to a door where a man is waiting. Sirens are heard in the background.

michael-jackson-ALIVEThe man opens the van’s back doors and as they swing open you see a figure in black pants and a white long sleeved shirt exit the back of the van. The person does have the stature and hair of Jackson, but no face is seen and it is not clear of the person is a male or female. Immediately the “person” goes into the doors of the building and the clip ends.

No one knows when the 30-second clip was shot and there is certainly no proof that this is Michael Jackson. But I’m sure some people will try to make something of this!

Here’s what “the source” wrote about the video, and believe me, it makes no sense whatsoever..

This video shows that Michael was still alive after his dead body was transported to the Los Angeles Dept. of Coroner I checked the license plate number and it looks like the King of Pop is jumping out of the same van, his dead body has been in. I got the original video tape from a trustworthy source. I know him for years. And I am sure it´s real and Michael is alive.

Interesting video, but I would say it is strictly for entertainment purposes. But what if….?

Michael Jackson’s Death: HOMICIDE

Source: www.celebritysmackblog.com

michael-jackson-death-homicide

Michael Jackson’s death has been ruled a homicide by the LA County Coroner’s office.

This is not good news for Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician who treated Michael Jackson in the weeks leading up to his death.

The autopsy conducted found that Jackson was given a lethal dose of Propofol along with a mixture of other sedatives. But it is the Propofol which is believed to have killed him.

Dr. Murray claims no wrong doing, but a manslaughter case is building against him. He told investigators that he gave Jackson Propofol to help him combat insomnia. He added that he felt Jackson was becoming dependent on the drug so he was gradually weening him from it. The night before the pop star’s death he says he tried other drugs,  lorazepam and midazolam, to help him sleep. At 1:30 AM he gave him valium. When Jackson was still awake at 2:00 AM he gave him lorazepam via an IV. (Wow, to me that seems excessive already…) Then at 3:00 AM he gave Jackson midazolam when he STILL hadn’t fell asleep. Then at 10:40 AM Jackson  “demanded” his “milk” a.k.a. propofol, which Murray oblidged.

Now, remember this all according to Dr. Murray. I think it sounds fishy… That’s a lot of sedatives for such a small, frail man to still be awake after receiving. Something is not right.

Michael Jackson’s Grave? PHOTOS

Source: www.celebritysmackblog.com

90807F2_JACKSON_M_B-GR_07

Michael Jackson’s grave and possible final resting place

Michael Jackson’s possible grave photos have been released, and they are quite beautiful.

Berry Gordy the legendary owner and founder of Tamla Motown records offered a resting place to the Jackson family in his very private $2million, 18 body capacity mausoleum.

A life size statue of Jesus Christ guides the way and the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling is carved 3 meters high in a marble slab overlooking the site.

There are no markings to give away it’s location, even the marble inlaid “G” identifying the precise part of the cemetery has been covered by an almost 2 meter diameter piece of stone.

The structure looks over a small private garden area inaccessible to all, there are marble benches in the hallway of the crypt and a large mosaic covers one wall.

CCTV cameras surround the property and 24 hr. security staff are on duty.

Although Gordy has agreed that the burial place is available to MJ forever it may still not be the final resting place.

His mother Katherine would like to have the body at her Encino, CA home. The Jackson family moved there from Indiana many years ago and the Jackson kids grew up in the 8 bedroom mansion. She is however not allowed by law to use the property to bury a human body.

There are also attempts to overcome local objections and turn Neverland into a kind of Graceland (Elvis) meets Disneyland which could also contain a shrine to the “King of Pop”.

Michael Jackson, in life much troubled is finally at peace although controversy will surround him for many decades , perhaps centuries to come.

Farrah Fawcett Michael Jackson Vanity Fair Covers

Source: www.celebritysmackblog.com

farrah-fawcett-vanity-fairmichael-jackson-vanity-fair-cover
Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson covers for the latest issue of Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair has put both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson on it’s September 2009 cover.

Farrah’s has the title, “Fallen Angel”, and Michael’s says, “Fallen King”.

Vanity Fair’s editor Graydon Carter says here was no other way to do it. “Two covers seemed like the sensible thing to do, given the passing of two major American icons on the same day.”

farrah-fawcett-vanity-fair-1

“Beautiful People, Ugly Choices,” the Farrah Fawcett story, discusses her sudden rise to stardom, her turbulent love affair with Ryan O’Neal (and drugs), and her painfully sad death.

Of course a lot of the article focuses on O’Neal and his version of things, which, I’m sorry, but coming from a drug addict may be a bit skewed. Don’t forget, it wasn’t only his son Redmond who was caught with methamphetamine, it was also Ryan who was busted with the powerful, dirty drug.

To show just how “out of touch” O’Neal is (whether it be because of the drugs or just simply that he is a natural born simpleton), he willingly admits that he didn’t recognize his own daughter, Tatum O’Neal, at Farrah’s funeral. But wait…not only did he not recognize her, he also practically hit on her!

O’Neal has often said his parental skills were sub-par, and this scenario, as played out at Farrah’s funeral service, pretty much supports that.

He tells Vanity Fair:

“I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me. I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’ She said, ‘Daddy, it’s me—Tatum!’ I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it’s my daughter. It’s so sick.”

Yes, it is sick, but I think it is more sad than anything. Sure, one may be at odds with their daughter, but to not recognize her? Unthinkable. And then for him to hit on a woman while at his lover’s funeral? WTF? He must have been smoking some good sh*t that day.

michael-jackson-vanity-fair

Then there is Michael Jackson’s story, “The Boy Who Would be King.”

Michael’s Vanity Fair story seems to be comprised mostly of interviews done with the singer in the late 70’s. A time when many of us prefer to remember him. Before the surgeries, before the scandals and before he was the biggest star in the world.

A few excerpts of the Michael Jackson interviews:

L.R.: As for reality, do you still enjoy meeting your fans?
M.J.: I enjoy all that sometimes, seeing people who love me, or buy my records. I think it’s fun, and I enjoy meeting my fans and I think it’s important. But sometimes people think you owe your life to them; they have a bad attitude, like “I made you who you are.” That may be true—but not that one person. Sometimes you have to say to them, If the music wasn’t good, you wouldn’t have bought it. Because some of them think they actually own you.

In another interview in 1984, the singer was asked about his album Thriller. He disclosed that just before it’s release that he thought it had “sounded like crap”.

L.R.: What?
M.J.: Oh, it was terrible. And I cried at the listening party. I said, “I’m sorry—we can’t release this.” I called a meeting with Quincy [Jones], and everybody at the [record] company was screaming that we had to have it out and there was a deadline, and I said, “I’m sorry, I’m not releasing it.” I said, “It’s terrible.” So we re-did a mix a day. Like a mix a day. And we rested two days, then we did a mixing. We were overworked, but it all came out O.K.

Vanity Fair’s latest issue will be available on newsstands in New York and Los Angeles on August 5th,  and nationwide on August 11th.

Michael Jackson Pepsi Commercial VIDEO

Source: www.celebritysmackblog.com

Anyone who was alive in 1984 surely remembers the Michael Jackson Pepsi commercial where Michael’s hair caught fire.

After all this time a video has been released showing the catastrophe taking place.

The date was January 27th, 1984. The horrible mistake happened on the sixth take, when the pyrotechnics went off earlier than planned.michael-jackson-pepsi-commercial-video

Michael is seen dancing down the stairs after the explosion with his hair very noticeably on FIRE. Stagehands and security rushed the stage and put the fire out before Michael seemed to know what was happening.

After the fire was extinguished Michael is seen looking shocked and obviously traumatized, clutching his head with his gloved hand.

This video is a bit disturbing and I found it to be very sad! The creepy music adds to the eeriness of it all too.

Us Weekly claims that this dreadful accident was what caused Michael’s pill addiction, but I am just not willing to speculate on that..

Bernie Mac’s Spirit Visits Wife

Source: www.celebritysmackblog.com

Bernie Mac’s widow says that her late husband has paid her visits from the grave.

Rhona McCullough opened up about the visits recently saying that she has no doubt in her mind that her husband has been with her.

She explains the first time she felt his presence,

“I could smell his cologne. I inhaled and I said, ‘You’re here’. I was turning around and saying, ‘Hey Bernard’. It stayed with me for about five minutes. I don’t always feel him. But I think he comes when I really need him.”

She believes her husband is trying to comfort her in her time of mourning.

Mac unexpectedly died of heart failure in August 2008.

Rare Kurt Cobain Photos Displayed in New Book

Source: www.celebritysmackblog.com

Writer Charles R. Cross has been searching through Kurt Cobain’s archives for a new book, “Cobain Unseen.” The book will contain a compilation of never before seen photos, artwork and journal entries of the tragic rock star.

Cross was granted access into Cobain’s archives, which he describes as, “Like a James Bond movie. But once you got past security, all his possessions were just in boxes.”

The author is trying to create a “visual history” of Cobain’s life which is complex and cryptic.

He says, “Kurt created work that has such mystery that we still can’t capture its essence. It’s that intangible thing that made him a star.”

During the six years of his professional career, thousands of photos were taken of Kurt Cobain both in concert and offstage — but he hated the bulk of them. This photograph, taken at Seattle’s legendary Crocodile Cafe in the fall of 1992, was one of the few personal snapshots Kurt liked enough to keep in his own scrapbook.

Kurt at five months old with his father, Don, July 1967 (a note on the back of the photograph reads “Kurt’s first time to steer the car”).

A two-year-old Kurt at his aunt Mari’s home, holding a tambourine. He loved music even from an early age, and was exposed to bands like the Byrds (pictured on the three posters behind him) by his aunts and uncles.

A portrait of the young man as an artist. For his eighth birthday in February 1975, Kurt received this easel from his paternal grandparents. Comic book characters were his favorite art subjects in childhood; he began with Disney-related fare, such as Donald Duck, but quickly moved to superheroes. Here, Kurt is copying the cover from Giant-Size Werewolf #4, an April 1975 Marvel comic.

Both Kurt and Courtney Love collected heart-shaped boxes, and by 1994 they had several dozen in their home. They often gave them to each other as gifts, sometimes filled with personal effects such as hair or a note, or on occasions containing antique valentines.

Courtney cites this photograph as her single favorite picture of Kurt. It was taken at their North Seattle house in late 1993.
