Cameron Diaz was photographed on the set of her new movie “My Sister’s Keeper” in Santa Monica yesterday. When asked for comment on her new look, she said, “Mutation: it is the key to our evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from a single-celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, and normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward…” and then yelled at Wolverine for smoking inside the mansion again.

Good for her for getting back out there and putting on a brave face. I’m not exactly her biggest fan, but it’s good to see she is hanging in there after the death of her father.

Cameron Diaz has released an official statement to the public regarding the untimely death of her father.

“My mom, sister and I are deeply appreciative of the overwhelming outpouring of love and support during this difficult time for us and all of our family. My dad was loved by so many people and his humor and spirit will always live on in our hearts.”

Actress Cameron Diaz is mourning the sudden death of her father Emilio Diaz. Nine MSN reports

Emilio developed pneumonia following a bout of the flu and passed away on Tuesday, aged 58. Emilio was said to be in “terrific health,” so his death has been a shock to his entire family.

Poor Cameron. Such a sad reminder of the fragility of life. A less sad reminder of the fragility of life? That Canadian hobo who accidentally hung himself with a backpack full of beer. Fuckin’ circle of life, man!

Cameron Diaz’s father died early Tuesday morning unexpectedly.

Emilio Diaz, 58, had recently contracted the flu which had morphed into pneumonia. His death was a shock to friends and family who say he was in excellent physical health.

Filming on Diaz’ latest film, “My Sister’s Keeper,” has been halted. I would assume Cameron will be taking some time off to grieve.

Emilio had a brief part in the film, “There’s Something About Mary.” He played the character, “Jailbird.”

Emilio Diaz, 58, recently developed the flu which then turned into pneumonia. He was a second generation Cuban-American who worked an oil company. He had a bit part in his daughter’s movie “There’s Something About Mary.”

A little background on this story: Earlier this week, Gerard Butler and Cameron Diaz were seen together at various Hollywood nightspots, and quite a few of our colleagues in the dirt-dishing business started saying that love was in the air. However, according to Butler that’s not quite true. Now, the usual way of denying a story like this is to say something like, “Cameron and I are just good friends, nothing romantic,” but that’s not how Leonidas rolls. The money quote:

“So if I take my dog out for a walk apparently I’m fucking my dog? Not true!”

A casual reader might think that Butler is: a) comparing a night on the town with Cameron to walking a dog; or, b) comparing dating Cameron to fucking a dog. Of course, a more astute reader will realize that he’s doing both. Butler might or might not have had some interest in pursuing Cameron, but if she has a shred of self respect he just foreclosed that possibility for a long, long time to come.

On whether she dreamed of being an actress when she was a kid:

“Oh, no. I wanted to be a zoologist, to study the sociology of animals. But that’s pretty much what I do now anyway. I thought I’d be on the plains of Africa watching lions, but instead I’m in Hollywood watching train wrecks…I’m just kidding.”

On buying a place in Manhattan:

“I’m done with L.A. Those guys [the paparazzi], you can’t get away from them. You have no options because everybody’s in a car. Here, I can walk down the street like everybody else. Not everybody is there to be rich and famous or attach themselves to rich and famous people. People want nothing from you. They just want to say, like, ‘Hey, how’s it going, Cameron?’ I like that interaction. I like to be in a place where I can be open to people and not worry about the consequences.”

On her goals:

“Just kind of taking more time getting to know myself. It sounds so corny that I can’t believe I even just said that, but, you know, there comes a time when you really have to get to know who you are…I’ve just been figuring out what interests me and spending time with people who are important to me and being present in my own life.”

On Vegas:

“I looooove Vegas. It’s such an easy trip from L.A., and there’s always a hotel room because there’s about a billion of them,” she says, before adding with a laugh, “but honestly, you don’t even really need one if you’re just going for the weekend!”

Cameron Diaz tells US Magazine that she loves being single.

“It’s been nice not having a boyfriend for the past year,” she says in the new issue of British GQ. “In fact, it’s the first time I haven’t had one in 10 years, and I’m enjoying what I’m getting out of this moment.

“I could be in a relationship if I wanted to be, but I haven’t finished doing what I’m doing,” she added.

By “What I’m doing”, she means “All the guys I’m plowing”.

Simply put, she says, “I like boys — a lot. I’m boy crazy. That hasn’t changed since I was very young.”

“I’m a lot of woman — in a lot of ways,” she says. “And I understand that can be intimidating.”

Cameron Diaz is one of those chicks who look great in pictures but once you get her behind clothes doors and peel off all that makeup, I’m sure she looks like her character in Shrek. Everyone says that was CGI but it was so lifelike I refuse to believe it.
