Britney Spears had a great night at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards show.

The pop princess took home three Moonman awards, including video of the year, for “Piece Of Me.”

Brit looked fab in a flashy silver dress and soft wavy hair, nothing like the trainwreck she was last year.

Her opening of the show was pretty uneventful, and the skit with Jonah Hill was pretty lame.  So if you missed it, no worries, you didn’t miss a thing!

I knew it was all a sham.

If you remember when Britney Spears first popped onto the scene, she was cute and so naive, and she was everywhere.  Her management obviously tried to paint this ‘perfect American teenager’ image to the public, and they made Britney play the role.

She claimed to be a virgin for like, ever.  Even when she was with Justin Timberlake she claimed to be one.  Anyhow, we were right.  Britney did what other teenagers do, she grew up.  And fast.  But like many child stars, the pressures of ‘being perfect’ took their toll and it obviously had an effect on her.

Sadly, her mother decided to write a book (The Storm: A Real Tale Of Fame And Family In A Tabloid World) about it and put her daughter’s skeleton’s on display.  So like a stage mom, isn’t it?

Lynne claims that Brit started drinking at the tender age of 13, not long after leaving the Mickey Mouse Club.  She also says that her daughter lost her virginity at 14 to some random 18-year-old high school football player, and by 15 Britney was into drugs.

After Lynne caught Britney drinking she says she allowed her to drink as long as she did it at home.

She says while Britney was with Justin she allowed him to sleep in Britney’s bed whenever coming over - because she thought her daughter was in love and that JT was good for her.

She also dishes that Brit was caught boarding a private plane with cocaine and pot when she was only 16.

Lynne claims she is now sorry for the way Britney was exploited but she doesn’t claim to have had any part in it.  She blames it solely on Britney’s management, who controlled her life and sexualized her.

It’s amazing to me that Lynne is trying to wipe her hands of everything in this book.  Oh yeah, and don’t forget she’s selling her daughter out at the same time.  It’s sad.

Was it the money?  The attention?  What makes a parent do that to their child?  Basically give up your parental rights and hand your kid over to Hollywood, and it’s not your fault for letting it happen?  Does she realize what a fool she looks like?

MTV has finally made the announcement so many have been waiting for.

Britney Spears will indeed kick off the 2008 Video Music Awards this Sunday. According to the press release it will not be a performance.  MTV is still keeping quiet as to how she will open the show.

Spears herself is nominated for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.”

Britney says of her upcoming appearance,

“MTV has long played an important role in my career. How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA’s? I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”

The MTV Video Music Awards airs Sunday, September 7th at 9:00PM.

Rumors are swirling that Britney Spears will be presenting an award at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, but is another comeback performance secretly in the works?

Brit’s manager is denying reports that the pop princess will be performing on the show, but insiders are claiming that at the very least she will be one of this year’s presenters.

Although no one at MTV will peep a word about Britney and her supposed appearance, there’s been quite a commotion going on behind the scenes with top secret production and wardrobe preparations in the works.

Adding fuel to the rumors of a comeback performace, MTV has given Brit her own dressing room, a perk usually reserved for performers. She is also scheduled to appear at 944 Magazine’s MTV VMA pre-party on Wednesday.

Nearly everyday is a bad hair day for Britney Spears.

The tabloids are, once again, saying Britney has a new body.

You may recall back in April, Star magazine claimed that Britney Spears had lost 20 pounds, got rid of her cellulite and was looking fab in her yellow bikini.

But she didn’t look any different to me!

Well, now it’s OK! magazine who must be hurtin’ for a good cover story because once again, it’s all about Britney’s weight.

Most lawyers are slime - except for when you need them. And even then..

Britney Spears indeed needed counsel to help in her custody battle with ex-husband, Kevin Federline. However, she’s getting reamed by Stacy Phillips, one of her attorneys who served the pop princess between the months of March and June.

From E!:

According to a declaration filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, the “Sometimes I Run” songstress owes $338,414.87 to Phillips for $700-an-hour services rendered between March and June—and there are rumors of a lawsuit in the works, because Spears’ camp is objecting to the hefty sum.

But that’s a discount, says the attorney, who states that the tab includes “time already deducted as a courtesy,” time “written off” and $75,000 that she expects to get next month.

Phillips was dismissed before Spears’ custody settlement was reached last month with the help of Spears’ recently reinstated family lawyer Laura Wasser, who broke ranks last fall but returned in time to help Spears obtain more visitation privileges with sons Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Wasser’s most recent bill, encompassing two months of counsel, totals $60,075, per another declaration filed on behalf of the law firm of Wasser, Cooperman & Carter.

But because her firm has already applied Spears’ $25,000 retainer fee toward her bill, she’s requesting no more than half of the total sum at this time.

Why so high, you might ask?

Phillips says that Spears’ conservatorship arrangement, which has gotten much of the credit for her 180-degree turn for the better over the last five months, made her case more complex.

Indeed. Attorneys for dad Jamie Spears indicated in court last week that they intend to contest his little girl’s legal bills. A hearing is scheduled for Sept. 16 to discuss Phillips’ fee.

Doesn’t that seem outrageous? Not surprising though. That’s a lawyer for ya.

Not a smart move on Phillips’ part as she will getting some negative publicity regarding this and everyone will know what an overpaid greedy douche she is.

The exclusive OK! magazine interview with Britney Spears hits shelves tomorrow, but here’s a sneak peek at what it’s all about.

From her nasty divorce and custody battle to her now-infamous performance at the 2007 VMAs to the dark period under the control of “manager” Sam Lutfi, it’s safe to say that the last two years were not the best in the young life of Britney Spears.

And now, one year after an erratic and distracted Brit stormed out of an OK! photoshoot, a very different woman sits down to talk openly about her two adorable sons, her father and the future of her nearly sidetracked career.

Having spent her young life in the spotlight, the 26-year-old mother of two tells OK! that she hopes her boys choose not to choose a career in entertainment. “I’d love them unconditionally if they wanted to,” she explains. “I’d just as soon they have a more normal childhood.

Perhaps some of Britney’s reluctance comes from seeing her little sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, have to face so much public scrutiny over her recent pregnancy. “I was shocked a little bit,” says Brit. “She’s always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby. It was mind-boggling.”

The pop superstar also tells OK! that she wants her boys to be close to her newborn niece. “I’m sure the boys will be like big brothers to Maddie,” she says.

In an unexpected twist, Britney’s downward spiral in recent years ultimately helped to heal the bonds between the singer and her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears.

“God has a way of taking something bad and turning it into something good,” explains Jamie, who also spoke exclusively to OK!. “If this hadn’t happened, I would never have been able to get back with my daughter and have this relationship I have with these two little boys.”

Another positive that’s risen out of her darkest days is Britney’s new album, which she expects to hit stores in six to nine months. “I think it is more urban,” she tells OK!.

“I’m writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room… This is my best work ever.”

Britney on enjoying domestic life: “I get mad if the maid does all the housework. If she takes it all into her own hands, well, what’s for me to do? I’m a cleaning fanatic. Dusting is my favorite, and Windex-ing.”

Britney on whether she cooks for her family: “I do. Usually the maid and I will cook together. Sean and Jayden love my spaghetti.”

Britney on focusing on the mommy track these days: “I’m healthy, happy and excited about the future.”

Little unknowns about the pop princess:

• She calls son Jayden “J.J.”

• Brit has the boys Monday and Wednesday, plus noon on Friday until noon on Saturday. Next overnight visit: October 1.

• Her sons are so into cars, that she has “watched the Cars movie nine million times!”

• She wrote a new song about them called My Baby for her new album (due in “six to nine months”).

• She recently saw Mamma Mia! “I thought it was kind of silly,” she says. “I saw Hancock, which I loved.”

• What’s she listening to? “I really like Rihanna. I think she’s great. And the girl Duffy. I think she’s amazing. And I like the new Madonna CD. I like Leona Lewis, too.”

You can’t help but believe that Sam Lutfi was the one behind her craziness/drug induced mania. She sure is in a lot better place since being rid of him!

Yes, Britney Spears is looking better all the time.

Having her father around and losing custody of her boys has really helped Britney get better. And having that dirtbag Sam Lufti out of her life helps too. I mean, I’m not a huge Britney Spears fan by any means, but damn, she was walking around like a coked up zombie for awhile there.

Brit even wore a bra with a see-through shirt!  Sorry guys, no glances at her southbound torpedo titties this time!

Quentin Tarantino is allegedly reported to have handpicked the talented song bird Britney Spears to play…yeah you guessed it, a killer lesbian stripper for his up and coming film remake Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

Spears’ character murders the boyfriend with her bare hands before taking the girlfriend hostage. The troubled singer will also have sex scenes with another girl before the drama ends in a blood-bath.

Sucks for Brit Brit.

Britney Spears will be under the conservatorship of her father Jamie until December 31, it was decided in court Thursday.

“Ms. Spears is reluctantly agreeing to extend the temporary [conservatorship],” L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz said after the hearing.

The commissioner also said Jamie’s conservatorship could be “terminated earlier.” A status hearing was set for October 28.

Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet were put in control of the pop singer’s finances and estate in February after she was hospitalized in January.

Since Spears’ father was put in charge, she has reunited with her sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 22 months.
